Who would have thought. That gig at The Wine Cellar fell together like we never stopped playing. Just like riding a bike. We rehearsed for only a few hours that afternoon at Mary's house and everyone blended together like it was yesterday. I've got to be honest I had some concerns. But we pulled it off. Roadhouse Blues we played only once that day but it sounded to me like we did it one thousand times before. Heard It In a Love Song we did a few times that afternoon and if Paul doesn't sound exactly like Doug Gray of Marshall Tucker than no one does. I was flummoxed by the turnout. All the people that travelled to see us on a rainy Scranton night at the tail end of a nasty Winter was an incredible sight. The absolute highlight for me was Dead Flowers sung by Dave's son. Man if that didn't just make that night completely complete I don't know what could have. Incredible. So where do we go from here? We are getting together at a super secret location somewhere in Delaware for some strumming, drinking and contemplating in May. We want to play again without a doubt. For an hour we were all 18 again drinking illegally at the Wine Cellar. No mortgages. No college tuitions. No health problems. Blissfully unaware of the concerns of middle age, briefly living those Glory Days that we sang about 30 years ago. How ironic. 30 years ago Gromo sang of Glory Days and 30 years later we lived the song. (N.B. Glory Days will most definitely be on the next song list!) Marty Moran has asked us to play a fundraiser in June and if the odds are in our favor we will be there G.W. I am still amazed that we pulled it off. Hopefully there will be more in the cards.
